Lauran Delancy

MUSICIAN

Handbell Artist ∙ Composer ∙ Conductor/Clinician

Handbell Artist: As a handbell soloist and one half of the duet A Lovely Shade of Blue, Lauran has performed multiple concerts throughout the greater Kansas City area and regularly provides special music at local church services. She has performed for many different kinds of special occasions including weddings, funerals and special programs such as company Christmas parties, Advent by Candlelight, Christmas at Crown Center, joint concerts with Lutheran High School of Kansas City, and the Olathe Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.

Composer: Bringing a melody to life and painting a picture with the music she writes is one of Lauran’s passions. Lauran has served as the Composer in Residence for Rezound! since 2007 and has been honored to have them premier and record several of her pieces. In 2011, her arrangement of “Angels From the Realms of Glory” for Bell Tree and Handbell Choir was featured at a performance with the Kansas City Symphony. Her commissioned works have received much praise. Lauran enjoys writing for many different types of instruments, but gravitates toward handbells and is honored that her pieces have been used to entertain audiences and bring glory to God in worship services all over the country.

Conductor and Clinician: In demand professionally, Lauran has provided many workshop sessions for local high school and church handbell choirs and has enjoyed teaching many different classes at State, Area, and National events of Handbell Musicians of America.  Lauran has experience directing and performing at various levels and ages from beginning church handbell choirs and retirement enrichment groups to collegiate ensembles and advanced community groups. This unique background and perspective allows her to connect with a variety of ensembles and meet them where they are to help them to advance their musical skills. She believes that making music is much more than merely playing the notes on a page.
